Over a decade in the polymer industry
Andrew Wilkins is a graduate in Business Studies and German from Sheffield Hallam University. Following his degree, he worked in Dusseldorf, Germany, as an English teacher. From 1997 until 2000, Andrew trained and worked as a PR consultant for ECC Kohtes & Klewes (now Ketchum Pleon) in Germany, where he worked on international business-to-business accounts from the plastics and automotive industries.
At the start of the new millennium he joined the science company DuPont, taking a role within its EMEA-wide Business Communications network with responsibility for the UK, Ireland, Benelux and the Nordics. Since 2004, he has been operating as a self-employed PR consultant from his office in Ely, Cambridgeshire.
A prominence in plastics
Andrew's long-standing association with the UK plastics industry, principally through DuPont as well as numerous other clients involved in the production, distribution and processing of polymers, has seen him develop strong contacts in the plastics and materials media as well as a detailed knowledge of industry events, trends and topics. Previous engagements in industry events have been as a steering committee member for the Plastics Industry Awards (PIA) and the Plastics Design and Moulding (PDM) shows. Andrew is a regularly invited member of the PIA judging panel.
Previous and current clients from the plastics industry include DuPont, Plastribution, Lacerta Technology Limited, Intouch Monitoring Limited and DBE Invista, as well as freelance copywriting support on behalf of PR agencies with a strong presence in the European plastics industry including the European Marketing Group (the Netherlands) and Konsens (Germany).
